...that more than fifty students have performed as members of Celtic Music Society in grades 7-12?

In Celtic Music Society, students typically learn music by ear. This provides a much greater knowledge of style, techniques, the traditional melodies, and different ways to interpret these melodies.

These sound files are "one-off" recordings. They were only played once. They're not perfect. Just slapped on some reverb and off we go.

Students: Melody players should perfect the slow version before moving on to medium, and perfect medium before moving on to fast.

This includes all cuts, rolls, etc., and not just the "big notes".

Students in Celtic Music Society used to receive a new edition of our music book once or twice each year. New music is introduced constantly throughout the school year, and back then it would be incorporated into a new edition.

In keeping with the Irish music tradition, our music is now introduced by rote, and most of it is never notated for students.

The music on this page is from the January 2003 edition.
